Background

The Thursday 7 May 2020 elections were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and were set to be held along with the May 6th, 2021, local elections.

Brexit had been largely successfully out side of some major border issues on the Island of Ireland. Both the government's and Welsh Assembly's ( Senedd Cymru) ineffective handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as rising drug and knife crime in London were also major issues.

Voting method used

• The councilors are each chosen by a first-past-the-post public voting for a four-year term of office.
• The Police Commissioners are each chosen by a single transferable vote public voting for a four-year term of office.
• The Senedd Cymru members are each chosen by a additional member system public voting for a four-year term of office.
• The Scottish Parliament s are each chosen by a additional member system public voting for a four-year term of office.
• The London Assembly members are each chosen by a first past the post and additional member system for a four-year term of office.
• The Mayors are each chosen by various public voting methods for a four-year term of office.
• The Mayor of Greater London is chosen by a first past the post and supplementary vote system for a four-year term of office.

The Lib Dems leafletted heavily and Labour did not leafleteer due to covid-19 concerns.
