A Supreme Court judge has annulled ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's corruption convictions set out in the huge bribery scandal, dubbed Operation Car Wash.

Supreme Court Justice Edson Fachin said that the courts, including the one that charged him, did not have legal jurisdiction over politician's activities.

The prosecutor-general's office subsequently said it would appeal against the annulment.
